  • Detecting Cancer Early: How GRAIL’s Technology Can Help with guest Trudy McKanna
In this episode of The Egg Whisperer Show, I’m joined by Trudy McKanna, Senior Field Medical Director at GRAIL, to talk about a groundbreaking new test called Galleri®. This multi-cancer early detection test can identify signals of more than 50 different types of cancer through a simple blood draw, often before symptoms appear. For anyone focused on protecting their long-term health, identifying possible cancers early, and for those who have done treatment and may be concerned about future cancer risk, this technology could be life-changing. We talk about how the Galleri® test works, the science behind it, and what this means for cancer treatment and detection. Trudy also shares why early detection is so critical, how accurate the test is, and what healthcare providers and patients need to know about accessing this innovation. Read the full show notes on Dr. Aimee's site (with a transcript). In this episode, we cover: - What GRAIL’s Galleri® test is and how it works - How early cancer detection offers more time and options for care, plus how it may help patients avoid chemo - Why the test could revolutionize preventative care and cancer treatment plans - What fertility specialists and patients should know about using Galleri® after Clomid usage - How GRAIL is working to expand access and education around early detection Find GRAIL's Galleri® test here: https://www.galleri.com/ Do you have questions about IVF? Click here to join Dr. Aimee for The IVF Class. • Could DNA Fragmentation Testing Cause a Miscarriage? (Ask The Egg Whisperer)
In this episode, Dr. Aimee goes live to answer your fertility questions, covering topics like DNA fragmentation, thyroid health, PCOS, embryo transfer timing, and more. She’s joined by Paula the Producer and takes additional questions from viewers tuning in live! Here are the listener-submitted questions featured in this episode: 1. Sarah (39) from Maryland wrote in to ask: After four early pregnancy losses from unassisted conceptions, and now with four frozen euploid embryos, could DNA fragmentation still be a factor in causing miscarriage? 2. Stephanie (41) from California is wondering: Her doctor suggested doing a second egg retrieval and a frozen embryo transfer in the same week, using an embryo from the first retrieval. Is this really possible, and what are the pros and cons of doing both in one cycle? 3. Alex (38) from England asks Dr. Aimee: With a frozen embryo transfer coming up, does she really need to stop her favorite high-intensity workouts like Hyrox and Barry’s Bootcamp? 4. Rebecca (37) from the United Kingdom is asking: After her TSH spiked unexpectedly to 27, can she still proceed with egg retrieval and freeze any good-quality embryos now, even if she needs to delay the transfer until her thyroid is back in range? 5. Lindsay (33) from Rhode Island wrote to ask: With a high antral follicle count but low mature egg yield, what else can she do (beyond lifestyle changes and supplements) to improve egg maturity during IVF? 6. Fab (37) from Australia wonders: After years of endometriosis, multiple surgeries, and one failed IVF cycle with no successful transfers, what can she do differently or consider for her upcoming round? 7. Elise (38) from Oregon wrote in with this question: She experienced intense pregnancy-like symptoms, like breast soreness, cramps, and dizziness, during failed transfers and unmedicated cycles. Is it possible for an embryo to cause these symptoms without actually implanting? 💬 Got a question for Dr. Aimee? • Top 5 IVF Setbacks and How to Reframe Them to Stay Hopeful
In this episode of The Egg Whisperer Show, I’m diving into one of the most important parts of the IVF journey: how to cope with setbacks. IVF can be frustrating, emotional, and downright hard. But it can also be empowering, educational, and full of possibility. I’m walking you through the five most common IVF challenges, and offering tools to help you reframe them so you can move forward feeling hopeful and in control. We’ll talk about what happens when your cycle gets delayed, when your follicles don’t grow as expected, and what to do when the numbers (eggs, embryos, blastocysts) don’t go your way. I’ll also share real patient stories and offer perspective on how to stay grounded and supported through every twist in the journey. In this episode, we cover: Why IVF cycles sometimes start with delays, and how to use that time productively What to do if your follicles don’t grow or respond to medication as expected How to cope with fewer eggs retrieved or fertilized than hoped What to know if embryo development or testing results don’t go as planned How to support your mental health and build a strong emotional foundation Read the full show notes on Dr. Aimee's website Do you want to learn more about IVF? Click here to join Dr. Aimee for The IVF Class.
