Brian and Judson hookup with Nick Wolny and talk generating wealth as queer people, whether poppers are an essential expense, accepting our social inheritances, preparing emotionally and financially for gay events, and more

    12/05/2026 | 1 h 25 min
Brian reports on a hookup that was lightning quick to plan, but double the usual time to execute. Judson enjoys what he rates as one of his top ten hookups ever. The Hookup of the Week discovers Facebook’s utility as a hookup app. The two are then joined by personal finance educator and advocate Nick Wolny. Nick, the finance columnist for Out Magazine and author of the book Money Proud: The Queer Guide to Generate Wealth, Slay Debt and Build Good Habits to Secure Your Future, helps Brian and Judson understand how and why queer people approach money in our own way. He delves into how we develop our thought patterns around money and how we can set ourselves up for our futures while living fabulous queer lives in the present. He shares how he crafted his book to educate those of us who don’t have money left over at the end of the month about how to get to a place where we do, and to then maintain it so we can live the way we deserve in the moment. Brian, Judson and Nick also examine broadening the definition of wealth, debate whether or not poppers are an essential expense, Nick shares his Daddy Issue about his realization he’s becoming his parents, and he responds to listener-submitted questions. The episode ends with the three responding to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is excited to attend the Folsom Street Fair for his first time, and wants to ensure that he and his husband are preparing for it properly.

Brian and Judson hookup with The Disappointments creator and star Rich Burns and talk regrets after 50, the path from connection to kink, who decides who’s a Daddy, scheduling sex and more

    05/05/2026 | 1 h 31 min
Judson unlocks a new marital kink. Brian provides an update on his solo afternoon at the hotel where the two recorded the previous episode. Judson sees Cats: The Jellicle Ball for his first time. Brian undergoes cataract surgery. The Hookup of the Week tells the story of a non-binary femme listener who meets someone on the apps and Daddies him until it’s time for the roles to reverse. Brian and Judson are then joined by Rich Burns, writer, creator and star of the Humanitas Prize-winning comedic digital series “The Disappointments.” The show’s second season is out now and follows three gay friends in their 60s who are single, broke and desperately trying to turn their disappointing lives around. Rich shares how the series came out of the realization that a number of his friends found themselves in their 50s with their dreams unfulfilled, talks about the disparate reactions to the show from different generations of gay viewers, and dispels certain myths about the differences between himself and Ray, the character he plays on the show. Rich also shares his thoughts on open relationships, dating younger, the presumption by most that he’s a Daddy, the success of his slutty Instagram account, how his sexual exploration derives from connection and trust, and so much more. Rich then helps Brian and Judson respond to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is finding himself so busy that he has to schedule hookups weeks, if not months, in advance and is concerned that it’s a problem he needs help solving.

Brian and Judson celebrate 100 episodes with Cats: The Jellicle Ball’s Sydney James Harcourt and talk sex with straight men, preferring faceless Grindr profiles, his affair with Andy Cohen, recognizing realness as a trauma response, and more

    28/04/2026 | 1 h 23 min
It’s Dads and Daddies 100th episode! Judson and Brian reminisce about the days before they were open to the idea of non-monogamy. They attend the LGBTQ Community Center of New York’s annual fundraising gala. The Hookup of the Week comes from a listener who shares the details of a recent session with a regular of more than a decade that he describes as being one of his best hookups ever. Brian and Judson are then joined by the sexiest cat on Broadway, Cats: The Jellicle Ball’s Rum Tum Tugger himself, Sydney James Harcourt! Sydney talks about his journey from a childhood in Michigan spent hiding in the closet, feeling unattractive, uncool, unmanly and seeking comfort in food, to moving to New York and feeling othered as a minority man in the mainstream gay scene, to the person he is today exuding sex and confidence on a Broadway stage eight times a week. He tells them about the role that connections and community played in his transformation, how he found the sexiness of Rum Tum Tugger, and about how “Realness,” Tugger’s ballroom category that showcases a person’s ability to pass as straight, is, at its core, a trauma response to homophobia. Sydney gets even more personal and talks about some of the various reasons he likes to have sex, the demise of finding hookups on Craig’s List, his “mad, passionate lust affair” with Andy Cohen, why we should have sex with the straight men on the apps, and his preference for faceless Grindr profiles. Sydney then joins Brian and Judson in responding to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener in his 30s who is newly out of the closet and wants to know what the three consider must-have experiences for a gay man.

Brian and Judson hookup with Claybourne Elder and talk growing up Mormon and gay, wanting to be evil, aging in the public eye, and gay wedding planning

    21/04/2026 | 1 h 37 min
Brian returns from a complicated week celebrating Passover in Hawaii. Judson’s libido surges with the change in the weather and guides him to a pair of pleasurable parties. The Hookup of the Week finds the submitter reclaiming his sexuality after abstaining for 15 years, and entering into an intricate roleplay scenario. Brian and Judson ponder whether or not the tagline of the show needs to evolve as they approach the podcast’s 100th episode next week. The two are then joined by Broadway’s favorite DILF, Claybourne Elder. The Gilded Age star and Grammy, Screen Actors Guild Award, Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominee tells Brian and Judson about the origin of his City of Strangers initiative that provides free tickets to Broadway shows for people who might not have the means, and takes them through the process of recording his debut album out now, If the Stars Were Mine. He also talks about growing up gay and Mormon, his time as a performing missionary in the Nauvoo, Illinois Historic District, getting kicked out of Brigham Young University for being gay, how he met his Jewish husband, their path to parenthood, and how they address religion with their son. Claybourne shares his Daddy Issue, which is around aging, and particularly how he wrestles with whether or not, as an actor, he should be considering any procedures to maintain his youth. He then joins Brian and Judson in responding to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener wanting advice on planning a wedding that is true to him and his partner.

Brian and Judson hookup with John Paul Brammer and talk about giving advice to the international LGBTQ community, choosing between religions, hookup etiquette, managing queer-specific anxieties, and more

    14/04/2026 | 1 h 44 min
Judson shares a fashion sensibility with Brian’s ten year-old daughter and celebrates a victory at work. Brian prioritizes scheduling a surgery over attending his favorite sex party and responds to some online hate about his parenting that he can’t ignore. The Hookup of the Week paints a detailed picture of a sub’s annual trip to New York to see his dom. Brian and Judson then launch the Dads and Daddies Book Club with the arrival of guest John Paul Brammer, famed LGBTQ+ advice columnist and author of ¡Hola Papi! How to Come Out in a Walmart Parking Lot and Other Life Lessons. John Paul tells Brian and Judson all about the origin of his ¡Hola Papi! advice column, how he overcame the feeling that he didn’t have the authority to give advice, and shares how he feels now that he’s retired his column after eight years. He also provides a sneak peek at his next two books, and responds to Brian’s ask for advice by giving his thoughts about steeling oneself against internet commenters. John Paul then goes all the way to the top to discuss his Daddy Issue, which is his recent fascination with Jesus, particularly the comforting discovery that he may not have been attractive, and talks about the time he almost converted to Judaism for a boyfriend. The episode ends with the renowned advice giver joining Brian and Judson in responding to a Go Ask Your Dad question from a listener who is curious about the etiquette of hooking up when one is hanging out with friends.
