    #117 LukeLikes「You Know Why」

    Luke Likes 'You Know Why'
Hey, the spring, the spring is here. Oh my God! The spring is sort of here. Not in the calendar, it is not in the calendar. But yeah, it is outside. I can see it right now, I can feel it, I can smell it. Yeah, and I can hear it. Yeah, I can hear it too. It is definitely here, it is definitely here.
That's why, that is why, that's why I do have a lot of energy. Yeah, I do, and I want to use it today. That is why, that's why I am now recording this episode. That's why, that's why I'm doing that.
Yeah, and outside, outside, it is getting warmer. And that's why people spend more time outdoors, outside, outdoors. Yeah, me too, me too. It is getting warmer, that's why people change, change their clothes. Yeah, they change into something lighter, something more springy, summery. Oh, maybe not summery yet, maybe not. But definitely something lighter.
Oh, oh, oh, and the day is much longer. That's why, that's why we get more of the sunlight, which, which by the way, by the way, is very, very needed. Oh my God, I need the sun, I need sunlight.
So it is the beginning of March and the beginning of spring. That's why, that's why people feel more optimistic, optimistic. Yeah, you can feel it, you can feel it. It will not last, so it will not continue, it will not last very long, I'm sure. But right now, people are feeling optimistic, more optimistic.
That's why they plan things, they plan things. Hey, how about we change the colour of these walls. Hey, maybe, maybe, maybe we could go on a trip. Or, oh, let's, let's learn a new language. Yeah, not a bad idea at all, not a bad idea.
That's why, that's why spring is amazing, it's an amazing time of the year. So like I said, I have plenty of energy, a lot of, plenty of energy right now and I want you, I want you, I want you to notice, to see something in this episode, to see something in it.
Why, why?, you might ask. Why? Because, because this is your English practice, that's why. And because you want to be better, that's why.
Why, why, why?, you might ask. Well, because you want to communicate in English, you want to understand and you want to speak, that's why.
But why, why, why?, you might ask again. Well, because you want to travel and see new places and meet new people, that's why.
But why, why?, you might ask again. Why? Well, because you like it, it is fun and exciting, that's why.
But why, again, why? Well, that's why!
    So now you know.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

    #116 LukeLikes「Makes Sense」

    22/02/2026 | 6 min
    Luke Likes 'Makes Sense'
Does it make any sense? Does it make any sense to you what I am saying? Does it make any sense? Well, I really, really hope that it makes sense. It makes a lot of sense because this is the point. This is the point to understand what I am saying and to make sense out of all of that.
Yeah, so make sure it makes sense to you and while doing that, while you are doing that, make sure you are using your senses. Do you know what senses are? Let me explain a little bit to you.
First, use your ears and listen, listen. Can you hear me? Can you hear my voice? Can you? Is it low? Is it high? No, it isn't high. Yeah, not high at all. It sounds low. It sounds low. I'm sure you can hear it.
So that's ears and now open your eyes and look, look, look around. What can you see? Can you see me? I'm right in front of you. I'm right in front of you. You should see me. No, actually you should hear me. Just hear me. So what can you see? Me, I'm looking out of the window and I can see it is raining. It is raining right now. I can see it and I can hear it actually. I'm looking and I can also see that it is getting dark. Yeah, that's right. Actually it looks like a night, but it isn't. It looks like that.
But now, close your eyes and use your nose. Yeah, you heard me right. Use your nose and smell it, smell it. What can you smell? What can you smell? Hey, can you smell me? Oh, that would be really weird. Anyway, I can smell some wood, some wood, wood. Must be my wooden floor. It smells, it smells of wood. And I can smell a bit of cedar wood, cedar wood. That's from my candle, from my candle. Love cedar wood. It smells just wonderful.
Use your mouth. Yep, use your mouth and taste it, taste it. Tell me, what does it taste like? What does it taste like? Wait, wait, wait. It tastes, it tastes good. That's my tea, that's my hot tea. Black tea, so it tastes a little bitter, bitter, not very sweet. Also, I can taste some spices in it, but I'm not sure what they are. Is it cinnamon? It might be. It tastes like cinnamon a little bit. So that's mouth.
And finally, use your fingers, use your fingers. Reach your right hand in front of you and touch whatever is in front of you. What does it feel like? Wait, that's my computer and it feels smooth, smooth and hot. Well, maybe not hot, but warm. It feels warm when I touch it.
So, does it make any sense right now?
    What does it look like?
And what does it sound like?
    What does it smell like?
And what does it taste like?
And finally, what does it feel like?
It might sound very complicated, I know. But, look, listen, smell, taste and touch. Then you will understand.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

    #115 LukeLikes「The Olympics」

    15/02/2026 | 6 min
    Luke Likes 'The Olympics'
Yeah, Luke likes the Olympics, Luke likes sports, so also Luke likes the Olympics, the Olympic Games, Summer Olympics or Winter Olympics. It doesn't really matter because it's all fascinating.
Yeah, and when it comes to the Winter Olympics, oh my, this is crazy and awesome at the same time. Crazy because, well, look at those athletes, athletes that show such incredible skills, skills. So it is awesome that at the same time, oh, come on, that is so risky and could be really dangerous, dangerous. Especially some sports, some disciplines, disciplines.
So this time around, the Olympics take place in Milano Cortina, which is Italy. And as you know, the Olympics are held, are held, so take place, are held every four years, every four years. So you have to wait really long for the Olympic Games.
So the athletes from around the world, from around the world compete, compete in disciplines that you might hear for the first time, for the first time in your life. Yeah, this is the beauty of the Winter Olympics.
So there is obviously skiing, skiing disciplines where athletes race, race down the hill, down the hill and whoever crosses, crosses the finish line first, well, wins, wins, wins a gold medal, a gold medal. Second, wins a silver one, a silver medal and whoever comes third, wins a bronze medal.
But wait, these can get crazier than that. How about putting on a pair of skis and trying to jump in them? Yeah, you heard me right, you heard me right, people do that. Jumping off a big hill and landing after, well, over 100 meters. Yeah, and whoever lands the furthest, the furthest, wins. As simple as that, and so crazy and awesome at the same time.
So hills and slopes, hills and slopes are just some of the venues, so places, venues where those competitions, competitions take place. But there is also an ice skating rink, ice skating rink and ice tracks, yeah, where athletes, well, go ice skating, where athletes race, race each other.
That's speed skating, speed skating. They dance, that's incredible. That's figure skating, obviously, figure skating and finally the team sport, the team sport of ice hockey, where skaters, skaters with sticks, sticks and protective gear, they look quite scary to be honest, try to score a goal, score a goal while skating at the same time. How crazy is this? Yeah, it is crazy.
Also, let's not forget about snowboard or curling, curling. Do you know what that is? Well, google it, google it. Cross country, cross country skiing, bobsleigh and so on and so on. Just can't wait for the action, can't wait to see all these skilled athletes compete. And then the Paralympic Games for disabled athletes, so people with disabilities, disabilities, disabled athletes, which is even crazier to watch.
So can't wait, hope to have a lot of fun, II'm going to support, support my athletes and can't stop wondering - how on earth are they doing that?
    I guess I'll never know.
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

    #114 LukeLikes「Myself」

    08/02/2026 | 5 min
    Luke Likes 'Myself'
Luke likes himself, I like myself and I hope, I hope you like yourself.
Myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, itself.
Do know these in English and do know how to use them, how to use them, how to use them yourself, yourself. Well, let's see, let's see.
Oh, that's a good one, enjoy yourself. Hmm, so I can say, I hope you are enjoying yourself right now, listening to this episode, you are enjoying yourself. Cool, cool, thanks.
Introduce yourself, meaning meet someone and say who you are. Introduce yourself. So the other day, I met this guy and he forgot to introduce himself. He forgot to, maybe he didn't, maybe he didn't, maybe he just didn't want to introduce himself to me, because he's a spy. Maybe.
Look at yourself, look at yourself. Hmm, she looked at herself in the mirror and thought, 'Well, what do I wear today? What do I wear today?' Sounds familiar? Does it sound familiar? Well, I will not answer this question. Myself.
Talk to yourself. Oh, that's a good one again, because I do, I do talk to myself, because that's a great way to practice your languages. I do talk to myself.
Myself, yourself, himself, herself, and itself.
And now, ourselves, yourselves, and themselves. Ourselves, yourselves, themselves.
Do you get it? I'm sure you do. I'm sure you can do it yourselves, but let's have a look together.
We are enjoying ourselves here, we are enjoying ourselves.
After this episode, you should try and practice these sentences, yourselves, practice these sentences, yourselves, yourselves. That's right, without me. Oh, a little bit with me too.
Okay, for example, they are preparing themselves, because they are leaving tomorrow. They are preparing themselves.
    Myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself.
    Ourselves, yourselves, themselves.
Well, that's a little selfish, selfish episode, because it's always, always, always about ourselves.
So now, you do it yourselves. Talk to yourselves, enjoy yourselves, help yourselves, and remember, always be yourselves.
And maybe don't blame yourselves when you make a mistake.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

    #113 LukeLikes「New And Old」

    01/02/2026 | 6 min
    Luke Likes 'New And Old'
New, new, new things, new places, new people, new, hmm, experiences. Do you like things to be new? Do you like new things to happen? Oh yeah, sure. Oh, that's new, that's amazing, that's exciting. Or do you prefer things to be old? Well, maybe the same and unchanged, unchanged.
A new car, for example. That's good, it's fast, it's modern, modern and, well, reliable. So when you say it is reliable, it doesn't break too often. Reliable. And it is fancy. New car, fancy car, fancy. So people like it, it's nice to look at and maybe a little expensive. Fancy.
An old car, an old car, on the other hand, well, can break a lot, can break down a lot and not so fancy, maybe a little dirty here and there. Also, not so fast, I'm sure and not as economical, economical as the new one either. But, but, yeah, it's familiar, familiar. If it is familiar, we know it very, very well. It is familiar and easy to use, obviously. In a way, it is like an old friend. Do you know what I mean? I'm sure you do.
New and old, new and old. A new place. A new place is exciting. It is interesting and there is a lot to explore in it. It is unknown, unknown, so maybe sometimes easy to feel a little lost, feel lost and confused. Sometimes you can't know what to expect. Sometimes something good, sometimes not as good.
An old place, on the other hand, an old place is familiar again and comfortable. Not very surprising and a little, hmm, predictable. When you say it is predictable, you know exactly what is going to happen, predictable. So in a way, it can be safe and cozy. Yeah, a new place and an old place.
And the same goes for people. For example, a new champion and an old champion. New versus old. Is one better than the other? Well, it is new. A new champion is young and energetic, strong and hungry for success, hungry for success. Wants more and more. A new champion is flashy, flashy, so attractive and impressive, showing a lot of skill and talent.
Yeah, and an old champion, on the other hand, an old champion might not be as flashy, is much, much older and definitely slower and not as healthy, yeah.
But still, still, there is a lot of skill, plenty of experience, plenty of memories, a big, big heart and a lot of respect for the old,
Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!
