  Luke Likes 'The News'So here is the news for you. I have plenty. I have plenty of news. A lot of, plenty, a lot of, plenty of news from around the world actually. Well, this is going to be a very international, international episode. But also some local, local news.Do you follow the news? Do you follow the news? Maybe we shouldn't be doing that. At least not that much, not that much. But, oh come on, we know this is just fun, fun.Like this piece of, piece, piece of news, local news. I can tell you that they have opened, they have opened a new roundabout in the area. Do you know what it is? Roundabout? This part of round road, round road, in a town, in a city. Yeah, so they have just opened, they have just opened a new one. And must say it's high time, it is high time. Quite a lot of accidents over there without it. And big traffic, there was big traffic. Hopefully now it has changed, it has changed.Now, the world, the world. Oh, there has been a time change. There has been a time change, which, by the way, I'm not a big fan of, I'm not, I'm not a big fan of that. Oh come on, can we stop doing that? Please? Okay, anyway, there has been a time change. And, well, the day has become much, much shorter for us. Magically, magically.Alright, a piece of sports news, maybe. A big fan of sports, are you? No? Well, you might not know that but the new NBA season has started, the new NBA season, season has just started, so basketball, basketball season. It has been around a week now, it has been around a week now. And it's not like I follow that every day. But, you know, once a fan, always a fan. This is how it is.And now, let's move on to politics. Blah! Well, no big changes here. The politics has been awful. It still is. We have already seen it. We have already, already seen it all. I guess no, no news here, no big news. At least, not good news. Nothing good has happened.But, maybe not politics, but entertainment, entertainment. So, film and music. You know, I've just found out, I have just found out, so, I didn't know that and now I do I have found out there will be a new Beatles movie. You know, you might not be a fan. But come on, that's the Beatles. So, I don't know about you, I am pretty excited.Okay, that's for the news around the world, and me? Not much has happened. I can tell you, I have redecorated, redecorated my living room a little bit. And I have decided. I have decided I need a new sofa. Again. I haven't bought it. I haven't bought it yet but I have chosen the right one this time.Hey, do you need a sofa, by the way? Good condition. Comfortable. Two-seater. Let me know.And, oh, I have worked out I have worked out the problem with the insurance company. Yeah! There are people over there after all. Because somebody has responded, has responded. Yeah, good for me, good for me. So, I have solved the problem.And, yeah. Now, I guess, coffee time. Oh, oh yeah, I've just realised I have run out of coffee. And tea. Yeah, I have just realised I need to do some shopping.Well, it's your turn now.   Luke Likes 'Paperwork'So I am at work, I am working, I am working really hard. I shouldn't, I shouldn't be working because this is my day off. And it is my time off, so the time when I don't have to work, but I do, I do. And to be honest with you, to be honest with you, I quite hate that. So let me explain, let me explain. I am working, and well, there is a lot of paper around me, a lot of paper. And this is paperwork. Yeah, do you know what that is? Paperwork. Well, that's documents, forms, bills, and other pieces of writing. Well, documents in general, that you really, really, really have to do from time to time. I'm so sorry.Fortunately, I do not have to do that a lot, and I am trying to do this as quickly as possible, and come back to enjoying my life again. Oh, but not this time, not this time. Because you see, I got this piece of writing and documents, yeah, which I don't quite understand. Okay, but anyway, I got this document saying that I have to pay this car insurance. Oh, and I'm okay with that. I know that. I do that all the time. We do this all the time. And the point is, the point is, the point is, I have already done it. I have already done it. I have paid, and still I get this piece of writing.Yeah, and that's the moment I really, really don't like, because it really slows down the work. And as I said before, I don't want to be doing that. I want to be as fast as possible, and now I have to deal with that, so when you say deal with something, you have a problem, and somehow you have to find a way to get around this problem, deal with the problem, so that you don't have it.And this is what I was trying to do. I was trying to deal with this problem, and I called the insurance company. Well, it didn't work. It didn't work, because I couldn't find a real person to talk to about it. And the ideas they gave me over there didn't work, didn't work at all, didn't work. That's not the end. I had to go and see the insurance agent to help me with the problem, and what did he do? Well, he tried to call the same number and deal with this problem, as I did before, and he got the same result. We could say he failed, so he didn't get what he wanted. I failed, he failed. Oh, we both failed. So we failed to deal with the problem, we could say.So here I am, here I am, and I am trying to find a way, and I still have two solutions to try. One, try and explain everything in an email, and hopefully somebody will read it and react.And second, well, I'm going to take my car, which, by the way, is fully insured, and drive 600km to see somebody from the company, and, well, and say, 'Hey man, are you mad? Are you out of your mind? Why are you doing that to me? You made a mistake, and I have to pay for that?!' And to make things worse, to make things worse, I have to waste the whole day driving here. 'Come on, leave me alone, leave me alone!'I hope I won't have to do that, but I guess you know what I mean. So I'm stuck here on my day off, dealing with work, paper work.Well, it's your turn now. I'm so happy I have.And you, you have made it, you have, and because you have been following, you have been following me for 100 episodes, 100 episodes since, since the 9th of October, so I have been doing that since the 9th of October and it has been one year, one year. And I have made, I have created 100 episodes ... 99 episodes, this is the 100th one, But yeah, you have learned, you have learned, hopefully, hopefully, so I really hope you have learned something, and even a little more than that.Oh, it has been a long, long run, it has been a run because the idea, the idea behind this podcast is to give you the basis, the basis to listen, to communicate and to use, to use English better and better.And I have tried to do that in 10 steps. Let's have a little recap, recap, so let's go back in time.#1 So, in episodes from 1 to 9, from 1 to 9, I have given you, I have given you Basic Information , basic information about me, about you, about how to talk about yourself and how to talk about basic things, objects around you.#2 Step 2, episodes 10 to 19, I have talked about Towns And Places, also about time and everyday life, my everyday life and for you to copy that to copy and try and talk about your everyday life.#3 Then, step 3, episodes 20 to 29, Travelling. I have talked about countries and how to communicate when you travel. #4 Then, step 4, episodes 30 to 39 and that's Shopping. Cool, you have learned, hopefully, you have learned how to buy stuff, also how to sell stuff and, oh, maybe how not to buy too much, as I did.#5 Step 5, episodes 40 to 49, Fashion and Clothes. Oh yeah, I do remember that. I have talked about fashion and clothes and I'm such an expert right now.#6 And also, episodes 50 to 59, in step 6, I have talked about Food and Eating. Yeah, I'm an expert too, if you didn't know that, sure, sure.#7 Then, comes step 7, episodes 60 to 69 and that's Transport and Getting Around, where I talked about planes and cars and how I get around, get around. So that's transport and now, #8 Step 8, episodes 70 to 79, I have talked about Homes and Furniture and, well, our disappointment, disappointment, so when we are not happy with the place that we just rented.#9 Step 9, episodes 80 to 89 and that's Health And the Body, where you have learned, you have learned a lot, a lot about medicine, medicine and, well, okay, I'm an expert too, obviously, call me a doctor.#10 And the last step, step 10, episodes 90 to 99, a fun, fun, fun step, Hobbies And Interests, what we like and what we don't like, what I like and maybe you also like.So that has been 10 big steps, 10 episodes, every step of the way. And in between them, in between, there have been, there have been, grammar episodes, grammar episodes.Oh yeah, you have not noticed that, have you? Every third episode is a grammatical one: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 and so on. So please listen to them carefully. Have you, have you, have you... Have you cried with happiness? Yes, I have. That's easy. Easy points. Have you cried at a film? Sure, I have. Have you cried at a funeral? A funeral, so the ceremony when a person dies. Unfortunately I have. The next one, have you bought yourself flowers? Yes, I have, i suppose i have.Have you been, be-was, were-been, have you been at a cinema alone? No, I don't think I have. Have you admited, so say that it's true, have you admitted that you snore? To make this sound at night that nobody likes. No, I haven't because i don't snore obviously.Have you broken a bone, a leg, an arm, a finger? No, I haven't. Hhave you grown a plant from a single small little seed? A seed, this little thing that you put in the ground when you want to grow a plant. And no, I haven't. Oh my, okay. Not many points so far.   Luke Likes 'Not Really Into This'Yeah, I'm not really into a lot of things, and when you say you are not into, you are not into something, you don't really like doing that, and you are not a fan, a fan. So let's find out, find out more about that.Board games, board games. Yeah why not, why not, I am into board games, but I must say not a very very good player. Especially when it comes to chess. Wait, that's a board game right? Yeah, so I am into playing chess but need to get better, definitely better. Sure it is a lot of fun when a lot of people can join in, so do it together, join in.Cars. Oh, that's so funny, that is so funny. Okay, I am told, so my parents tell me, I am told that when I was a child, I was so so into cars, and I would cry, cry a lot if a book didn't have a picture of a car, or the story was not about cars. Yeah, and now, when I think of cars, I think, 'oh my goodness, what now, what do I have to repair now?' Oh, yeah, but alright, to be honest, overall, I don't mind, I don't mind, which means I am okay with that, I am okay with cars.Oh, pets, pets. Oh, obviously I am such a huge fan, I am a huge fan of cats, and dogs, and fish, and pigs, and horses, and mice, and giraffes, and squirrels, and tigers, and spiders, and birds, and... Okay, I think you know what I mean.Gardening, gardening. Well, I am into gardening, but how to put it, how to put it, let's say, gardening is not really into me,because the plants just hate me, hate me, and whatever I do, whatever I try, it all ends the same way, meaning not good, not good for plants. But I don't give up, I don't give up. Fashion and clothes. Well, I am a little bit into fashion, because I do choose clothes, the ones that I wear, but I don't follow, I don't follow fashion trends that much. But obviously I appreciate, I appreciate when somebody has a good sense, good sense of style. Yeah, let's leave it at that. Oh, interior design, interior design. So the way our houses and flats and buildings are designed and arranged, arranged. And yeah, I think I am a little bit into that as well. I think I don't know much about that, but certainly, certainly I am impressed, impressed when I see something new and interesting and I also can appreciate that. Oh, and then I want to have it, and that's a problem.Cooking, cooking. Oh, okay, the thing is this, I am not a food person, I am not a food person, but I am trying, I am trying, and cooking is not really my thing, it is not my thing, but on the other hand, on the other hand, I want to be better at that, and there are people around me that really want to help me with it. So I just need to follow, follow their lead, follow their lead, so basically listen to what they tell me, and just do it. But now, yeah, really, not my thing, it is not my thing now. I mean, yet.New technologies, new technologies. Oh my. Well, I think I am into this, well, who isn't, who isn't? I guess you have to be right now, and obviously it's very practical to take advantage of what there is out there, what there is out there. Take advantage, so use it, use it. So yes, I am, yes, I am, but I am not a huge fan, like some people are.Are you into this stuff, are you into this kind of stuff? I can tell, I can tell what you really are into.
