It has been two months since our last episode. We were not on a "hiatus," we have been on a "we have busyatus." That's an official term.

In this episode we talk more about what we are looking for when listening to college auditions. We also discuss crafting a studio culture.

As we wrap up auditions season at the University of Iowa and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, we discuss thoughts on college music auditions, including common misconceptions, what we are looking for, what to expect, and more.

It's a bit strange to have a "New Year" episode drop the last week of February, but that's what's happening. We recorded this episode on January 30 towards the beginning of the spring 2026 semester, but then I got terribly sick with pneumonia, so we're late. It's never a bad time think about adjustments to your practicing and teaching though!
