IF YOU DIDN'T CRY, YOU'RE A MONSTER. Our next episode will cover KPop Demon Hunters, an animated movie coming out on Netflix on June 20! It stars Arden Cho and Ahn HyoSeop. Are you excited for Linda's incandescent rage? Judy is! Time to watch "Rogue One"! 16:52 - If you're a fan of ballet and dancing, Linda recommends "Etoile", a "Gilmore Girls"-esque show set in New York and Paris. 19:35 - Judy is playing "It Takes Two", a fun co-op puzzle platformer game. It's basically like "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids", if you remember that 1989 gem. KDMEO Episode 216 - When Life Gives You Tangerines (폭삭 속았수다) 1-8
FYI - I CRIED EDITING THIS. Judy and Linda try not to outright sob through their discussion of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" (폭삭 속았수다), starring IU, Park BoGum, Moon SoRi and Park HaeJoon. Digressions: 0:57 - New Patreon donor and Listener E-mails! 12:21 - Judy watched "Twisters", starring Glen Powell and Kiernan Shipka. It just didn't have the same charm as the 1996 film. Boo. 14:20 - Linda was surprisingly absorbed by "1883" and "1923", prequels to "Yellowstone". Who knew she would be so into Westerns? 18:08 - Judy read "Convenience Store Woman" by Sayaka Murata and was fascinated by the POV of the main character and her unusual way of dealing with the pressure to conform in society. 20:30 - Judy watched "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and couldn't believe she slept through the climax. Yikes. Some Korean terms: 감사합니다: [gam-sa-hap-ni-da] "thank you", formally. 폭삭 속았수다: [pok-sak-sok-at-soo-da] "thank you for your hard work", in Jeju dialect. 사랑에 빠진게 죄가 아니잖아: [sa-rang-eh-ppa-jin-geh-jweh-ga-a-ni-jan-a] "It's not a crime to fall in love". 해녀: [heh-nyeo] traditional Korean women divers. 잠녀: [jam-nyeo] Jeju dialect for "해녀". 배째: [beh-jjeh] "I will never give in"; literally "slit open your belly". 짜증나: [jja-jeung-na] "I'm so annoyed". 삐뚤어지다: [ppi-ddool-eo-jeot-seo] to be bent; to go down the wrong path, in reference to a delinquent person. 제사: [jeh-sa] death ritual. KDMEO Episode 215 - Melo Movie (멜로무비)
HOW CAN A DRAMA GO FROM BEING TEDIOUS IN THE FIRST HALF TO DEVASTATING IN THE LATTER HALF. Judy and Linda watched "Melo Movie" (멜로무비), a Netflix drama starring Choi WooSik, Park BoYoung, Lee JunYoung, Jeon SoNee and Kim JaeWook. Digressions: 0:46 - Listener E-mails! 17:28 - Judy is playing "Dragon Age: The Veilguard", but isn't romancing anybody! So far, the story feels a bit nebulous, but the gameplay feels great and she's enjoying it! Judy uses the wrong pronouns for the character of Taash, because she hasn't gotten to the point in the game where they confirms their pronouns as they/them. Sorry! 21:56 - Linda was hooked by the end of the first episode of "Paradise", starring James Marsden and has binged the entire first season! Check it out! 24:57 - Judy watched "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep" animated film on Netflix, and it was goofy fun but we were not expecting straight up Little Mermaid. 27:04 - Linda watched "THE MOON" (더문) starring D.O. about a lone astronaut who survives a disaster on the moon. Some Korean terms: 솔의 눈: [sol-eui-noon] pine bud; Audio clips: Hans Zimmer - "Dragon Age: The Veilguard" - "Dragon Age: The Veilguard Main Theme" Siddhartha Khosla - "Paradise" - "Welcome to Paradise" Joseph Trapanese - "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep" - "Allamorax Attack" 하람 (feat. 기탁) - "더문" (THE MOON) - "The Moon" Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com). KDMEO Episode 214 - Winter 2025 First Impressions
TIME FOR FIRST IMPRESSIONS IN WINTER 2025! Judy and Linda watched "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" (중증외상센터), "The Trunk" (트렁크), "When the Phone Rings" (지금 거신 전화는), and "The Queen Who Crowns" (원경). We will start covering "Melo Movie" (멜로무비) starring Choi WooSik and Park BoYoung in March. Hope it's good! Digressions: 1:18 - Listener E-mails! 4:27 - Judy watched "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent", starring Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal. It was a delightful meta action comedy, and you should check it out! 5:52 - Linda watched Part 2 of "Alienoid" (외계+인), and found a massive plot hole. 7:54 - Judy finished playing "Baldur's Gate 3" and is suffering from post-game depression once more. Time to catch up on the jillion games on her backlog! 9:51 - Linda watched the second season of "Night Agent" on Netflix, which is good to have on in the background. 11:59 - "When the Phone Rings" (지금 거신 전화는) is an MBC drama starring Yoo YeonSeok and Chae SooBin. Some things definitely work better as a webtoon. 31:04 - "The Queen Who Crowns" (원경) is a tvN drama starring Cha JooYoung and Lee HyunWook. The first episode is definitely scattered and hard to follow, but it shows much promise in terms of exploring the story of a very influential queen in Korean history. 42:19 - "The Trunk" (트렁크) is a Netflix drama starring Gong Yoo and Seo HyunJin. This one is weird, but we liked it? 49:55 - "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" (중증외상센터) is a Netflix drama, starring Ju JiHoon. Just don't take it too seriously. Audio clips: Mark Isham - "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" - "Score Suite" 이병훈 (Lee ByungHoon) - "외계+인" (Alienoid) - "외계인" (Alien 1) Borislav Slavov - "Baldur's Gate 3" - "Main Theme Part I" Robert Duncan - "Night Agent" - "End Credits" Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com). Our first attempt at ASMR! 9:08 - New Patreon donor and Listener E-mails! 17:44 - "Borderlands" movie is irredeemably awful, and Judy can't figure out who is was made for, other than the actors who were extremely bored during the pandemic. 21:12 - Gasp! Linda watched "Revenant" (악귀) starring Kim TaeRi? New horizons have opened up! 24:02 - "Gladiator II" was so disappointing. If you have such an uncharismatic lead character, who am I supposed to root for? Judy is mad that there isn't enough Pedro Pascal. 29:03 - Linda finally watched "Mister Sunshine" (미스터 션샤인) and found it to be beautiful but long. 32:40 - Judy's new dinnertime show is "White Collar", starring Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay. 34:50 - Linda watched "Blitz" starring Saoirse Ronan on Apple TV, which is excellent for historical reference but aimless as a film. 37:55 - Judy started playing "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle", and is thrilled that she gets to be the whip-cracking archaeologist. 40:47 - Linda watched Part 1 of "Alienoid" (외계+인), and found it...interesting.
