A week in the life of a private investigator

    28/08/2026 | 41 min
Hello and welcome to another episode of Diary of a Private Investigator with me, your host, Nathan Hoole of Dolos Investigations.
I thought for this episode I'd do something a little different and go through the recent goings on!
It's been a busy time here at Dolos and I've had the pleasure to work on a variety of different cases.
You'll hear me dive into cheating partner cases as I follow a couple into their local gym, some process serving work, some eviction work and some traveller work!
People assume that a lot of what we do at Dolos is around cheating partners, but that's not the case. We deal with a huge variety of different cases.
As credible witnesses, we can serve legal papers, aid in the eviction of travellers and private individuals.
I also talk about the attention to detail that's required for effective surveillance work, ensuring that the meta data from the cameras we deploy all match so they hold up in court if needs be.

Accessing people’s digital footprints, using the dark web & staying morally grounded

    10/07/2026 | 54 min
Hello and welcome to yet another episode of Diary of a Private Investigator with me, your host, Nathan Hoole of Dolos Investigations.

This week, I’m joined by Aaron Barnes-Wilding of Barnveil. Based in Liverpool, Aaron is my ‘tech guy’, the person I turn to if I need information, data or any kind of digital support when it comes this kind of thing.

We discuss the important of ensuring that the information we access is done so morally and with the right intentions. People don’t realise just how much information and data they leave when using the internet, from your phone contract to your spending habits, from your social media accounts to your search history and that’s just the very tip of the iceberg.

We also touch upon the dark web, how it’s accessed, what can be found and the grey areas we have to navigate when hunting for data that has been leaked across the platform.

Aaron can find out what a stalker, fraudster or journalist has on file about you, he’s helped me with multiple cases and he’s an expert within his field. I’m certain that you’ll find some incredible insights from this episode.

The shocking statistics behind rape convictions, stories about cases of those accused and listener questions

    21/05/2026 | 53 min
Hello and welcome back to The Diary of a Private Investigator podcast with me your host, Nathan Hoole of Dolos Investigations.
It's been a while, I'm sorry! It's been busy and things have been going crazy but I'm back into it with a brand new episode.
This week, I answer some listener questions and share some feedback I've had recently!
Thank you for the buy me a coffee donations too, very generous!
I dive deeply into the very important and often misunderstood topic of rape, from how it's dealt with to how the CPS and police deal with these types of cases.
It's a heavy subject but it's vital that we discuss it, from injustices to low conviction rates, from victim support to changes in how the law handles it...I get into the nitty and gritty based on my experience as a previous cop and a PI.

AI in private investigation, pricing and listener FAQs

    13/02/2026 | 57 min
Hello and welcome to Diary of a Private Investigator with me, your host, Nathan Hoole of Dolos Investigations.

This month, we'll be discussing everything from how AI will affect the private investigation industry, answering some listener questions and of course, moan of the month is back!

AI is obviously continuing to grow at an incredible pace, I've been pondering the implications or use cases within the world of private investigation, from AI generated evidence in imagery and video to tools and softwares that may have a beneficial impact.

One of the incidents recently, is that concerning Grok. The AI tool that allows users to create imagery and other content. The latest, is that it's been used to create nude photos of people that are fully clothed in the source material without their consent. Worrying.

I also talk about my pricing structure and hourly rate, something that isn't spoken about too much in this industry but transparency is absolutely key so stay tuned to hear all about how I operate and how I charge.

Weaponised BDSM, deception and the illusion of consent

    29/12/2025 | 1 h 14 min
Hello and welcome to Diary of a Private Investigator, I’m your host Nathan Hoole of Dolos Investigations and this week I’m joined by Jacqeline.

Jacqeline joins me on this episode to tell her story about what started as a wonderful relationship which gradually turned into one of the most horrific ordeals of her life.

After meeting online, the red flags began to appear but her partner’s deception and manipulation went undetected, as usually is the case with situations like this.

We discuss intricate details of the relationship, from BDSM to damning lies about his family and private life, Jacqeline has endured a lot but has come out the other side as she starts to rebuild her life and rediscover her confidence.

We also discuss the impact the private investigation had on this case as Jacqeline is actually a client of mine, I helped her throughout the investigation to finally get her the answers she deserved.
