Bloopers, Foul-Ups & Outtakes: The Moments You Never Saw EP 179

    29/07/2026 | 7 min
By popular request, James and I are opening the vault on every blooper, foul-up, and outtake that never survived the final cut. Today, the moments we usually keep to ourselves are all yours.

From an Obi-Wan impression that took an unexpected Scottish turn, to an ongoing struggle between the words "psychologist" and "psychiatrist," to James's inability to pronounce Thessalonians, this one is a lighter look behind the scenes of the show. If you have a favorite moment or a question you'd like us to cover, leave it in the comments below and we'll do our best to answer it on a future Monday episode.

Can You KNOW You're Going to Heaven? Ep 178

    27/07/2026 | 37 min
What's the most important question you'll ever answer? It might not be the one you'd expect. In this episode, I dig into something I've wrestled with for decades: can you actually know, for certain, that you'd be welcomed into heaven if you died tonight? Not hope so. Not maybe. I walk through how Christians have fought over this for 2,000 years, from Calvin to Robert Bellarmine, and why the answer changes everything about how you rest at night. Here's the heart of it: your confidence was never meant to rest in the strength of your faith. It rests in the faithfulness of your Savior, the one who promised he'll never let you go. Then I open up the mailbag and take your questions:

Does God ever reveal why he allows good people to suffer?

Is it wrong to marry someone who doesn't share your faith?

Why has reading my Bible started to feel like a chore instead of a joy?

Do I have to listen to only Christian music?

If this encouraged you, subscribe, give it a thumbs up, turn on notifications, and share it with someone who needs it. Have a great week, and God bless you.

Why Everyone Is Suddenly a Narcissist Episode 177

    24/07/2026 | 25 min
What if the therapy language we hear every day is quietly training us to worship ourselves? In this episode I step into the space between pop psychology and biblical counseling and ask whether we can study the brain without surrendering the soul. We talk about why "your truth" makes a terrible savior, why "just pray harder" is lazy counsel, and how neuroscience is catching up to what Scripture has said all along about taking your thoughts captive and renewing your mind. I also share why Dr. Lee Warren's work on self-brain surgery has been so helpful to me.

You Can Hear the Truth and Still Miss It Ep 176

    22/07/2026 | 19 min
In this episode I dig into the parable of the sower, one of the most ordinary stories Jesus ever told and one of the most searching. Four soils, one seed, and a question I couldn't shake all week: which one am I? I get into why Jesus said some people were not meant to understand, why the thorny soil is the one that hits closest to home for most of us today, and what it actually looks like to become the kind of soil that patiently produces fruit. If this encouraged you, subscribe and drop your question in the comments. I'd love to answer it in the next couple of weeks.

The Hidden Way We Blame God for Our Sin Ep 175

    20/07/2026 | 24 min
Have you ever blamed God without even realizing it? Not by shaking your fist at heaven, but by quietly thinking, "Lord, if you had just changed my circumstances, I wouldn't have done what I did." In this devotional I want to walk through what I've come to see as the most sophisticated form of self-deception, the final argument of a self-excusing heart. It's the same thing that happened back in the Garden of Eden, and it's something God has been exposing in my own life too.

Here's the freeing part: if my biggest problem is my own heart and not everyone around me, that's actually great news, because changing hearts is exactly what God specializes in.
