With the final GC cut-off extended by 1 hour due to changes to the Finish Parcours, James rolled in just before 02:00 local time — with only 25 minutes to spare. The bulk of the finishers’ party had drifted away, but a loyal crowd remained, including race winner Victor Bosoni, there to greet the last GC rider in a moment of mutual admiration.

The first pair to finish cross the line in a wave of relief, while riders at the beach share words of encouragement for those still out on the road.
