This is not literally a six-pointer in September, but the psychological importance is considerable. Tottenham enter the match with two points from four league games, sitting 17th, while Villa have only one point. Spurs have also failed to score in their first four Premier League matches — a remarkable early-season statistic given the scale of their summer recruitment.

So there is an interesting dynamic: both teams desperately need the result, but for slightly different reasons. For Tottenham, a victory would provide De Zerbi with tangible evidence that his new side is beginning to function. Porro gives Spurs another player capable of providing width and progression from the right. More importantly, his positioning can create an additional passing option when Villa attempt to close down the central areas.

James Maddison's availability could be crucial .Maddison is now considered ready for a larger contribution after making consecutive substitute appearances. If Maddison can operate between Villa's midfield and defence, he could be one of the players capable of solving Tottenham's biggest problem: turning possession into genuinely dangerous chances.

This is a very important early-season fixture for both clubs, but I'd frame it as a test of whether their respective projects can begin producing Premier League results rather than as a season-defining game.

The Last Word On Spurs panellists reassemble as Our Carabao Cup involvement ended at Anfield on Tuesday night as Liverpool scored three superb goals to knock us out, despite our brave fightback in the second half.We created a host of great chances throughout the game with Lucas Bergvall, Mohammed Kudus and Omar Marmoush all going close but the home side went into a two-goal lead thanks to fine goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.

Conor Gallagher got us back in the contest with a headed goal and we had Liverpool on the ropes towards the end of the game, only for Dominik Szoboszlai to hit a stunning stoppage-time strike to finally end our resurgence.

Head Coach Roberto De Zerbi made eight changes from Saturday’s goalless draw with Everton, with Martin Dubravka making his debut and Tosin Adarabioyo his first start, while Kudus was in the starting line-up for the first time since 4 January. Liverpool made 10 changes to their side from the weekend, only Ronald Araujo keeping his place.

We're back in the building as we enter a fresh new week, with Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi is currently facing heavy scrutiny after a winless start to the Premier League season.

Tottenham endured a frustrating 0-0 draw against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was met with boos from home supporters at the final whistle.

This stalemate marked the first time in Tottenham's history that they have failed to score a single goal in their opening four league matches.

De Zerbi noted that the squad is suffering from a mental block in the final third. He cited late pre-season arrivals and persistent fitness issues as core reasons for their slow tactical integration. The winless streak leaves Spurs hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th place with only two points.

De Zerbi also downplayed any rumors of friction with second-half substitute Mathys Tel after cameras captured a heated on-pitch coaching session at full-time. De Zerbi clarified that he was simply instructing the 21-year-old Frenchman on his body shape and positioning as a striker.

Tensions have also grown between the club and forward Richarlison, who has been left out of De Zerbi's Premier League squad. The player's representatives have been exploring ways to terminate the final nine months of his contract, a resolution that Tottenham's hierarchy has rejected.
