Inside Silhouettes - Tunnel
Inside Silhouettes is a four part radio series that aired mid November 2018 and is now uploaded as a podcast on YouTube, SoundCloud, Whooshkaa and iTunes. These episodes are stand alone narratives that focus on the inner thoughts of struggling young adults. One episode focuses on drug use, another of a female walking alone at night, one on stepping outside of comfort zones and another on anxiety. Each episode runs for 10 minutes or less and uses soundscape as a main way of storytelling alongside dialogue. A focus on surreal environments was used to portray these inner thoughts to enhance the primary emotions conveyed. In a dramatised setting, Inside Silhouettes explores seldom covered themes with the aim to raise awareness to a range of mental states to those who can relate, and inform those who cannot. An immersive audio medium lends itself perfectly to the chosen theme of inner thoughts as listeners are placed physically in the head of the protagonists. This is done though techniques such as panning sounds in the environment to communicate spacial awareness.
