Going West: True Crime

In January of 2001, a 31-year-old man vanished when he left his family’s New York home after receiving a mysterious page. He told his parents he was heading out to play pool with a friend, but the hours ticked by, and he never returned. His car was found abandoned a day later in a quiet parking lot, locked, with his wallet inside. This has left investigators, his family, and the community to continue wondering, 25 years later, what happened to him? This is the disappearance of Anthony Urciuoli.

In November of 2000, a 26-year-old biotech worker was found dead in his San Diego apartment, laid out on his bed with rose petals scattered around his body and a wedding photograph carefully placed nearby. His death was reported as a suicide by his wife, a county toxicologist, and at first, there was little reason to doubt her. But as investigators began to take a closer look, the line between love and betrayal, and science and deception, started to blur. In the late 1970s, Sacramento residents were terrified by a string of bizarre and gruesome killings committed in quick succession.
