  • 3.5 Understanding and Parenting Strong-Willed Kids with Danielle Bettmann
Strong-willed kids aren’t “difficult”—they have intense emotions, a strong sense of control, and deep sensitivity that require understanding, not fixing. Common parenting struggles include emotional outbursts, rigidity, and feeling like your child acts differently at home versus in public. Supporting strong-willed children involves creating accommodations, teaching emotional regulation, and shifting the perspective from defiance to emotional depth. Understanding neurodivergence can help both parents and children thrive by embracing different brain wirings rather than viewing them as obstacles.
