  • Rebecca J Keil (@rebeccajkeil) on Age Gaps, Te Reo Reclamation, Treating Your Kids Like Humans, and Breastfeeding Being REALLY HARD
Kia ora ano! Welcome back to another episode of WDYPLT, our penultimate episode of Season 1! (But don't worry, we've already got heaps of good stuff cooking for season 2!!) This week on the pod I was joined by the one-of-a-kind, OG influencer, good vibes, keeping it real, not afraid to speak up Rebecca J Keil!! Rebecca (@rebeccajkeil) is such a cooool lady. She keeps it so real, and is so self-aware, but isn't a dick! She's fun, and makes you feel like her best friend. She also has a brain. She is smart, y'all. The way she talks about her privilege, her choices, her values, her decisions, she is so considered and thoughtful. As I say in the intro, I chose to keep her sixth question in the main episode this week because I just think it's an answer that every single person needs to hear, particularly every New Zealander. If you hear Rebecca's sixth question and realise you'd like to hear other people's secret sixth questions, you can subscribe to my substack at any time! If you subscribe before the end of July 100% of your money will go to Gaza relief! You'll even get to find out EARLY which family member is going to be interviewed in the SEASON 1 FINALE EPISODE! Speaking of Gaza relief, stream, stream, stream so we can get the maximum amount of money donated to mutual aid funds! • Cassidy Skelton (@cassidyskelton) on "Moving Fast", Low Cortisol Parenting, Navigating Career and Motherhood, and "Here is Good"
Who's that giiiiiiiirl, it's Cass! Cassidy Skelton (@cassidyskelton), the lady, the myth, the legend joins me this week for an extra fun, extra chaos chat. I mush so much about Cass in the intro and my pre-pod ramble so there isn't too much more I need to say here, but I was really thrilled to get the opportunity to sit down with my old pal and have a meaningful conversation about our parenting journey. Our younger selves would be so damn proud of us. The world is better for having Cassidy Skelton. Seeing her wee family thrive just makes me heart swell. In the introduction I speak about how 100% of my earnings from the podcast from the month of July will be going to Gaza Aid. If you want to contribute to that, listen to the pod! That's all for this week!! • Britt & MJ Meafou (@dadbehaviour) on Being High School Sweethearts, A Fertility Journey, Raising Kind Humans, and Creating Dads' Village Postpartum
Blow me down, we've got a couple! It has been on my wishlist for a wee while now to have a couple speaking on their parenting experience together, and we got that this week with Britt and MJ Meafou! You may know MJ as @dadbehaviour on instagram. He shares his life as a Dad on there, but also has created a stroller club for dads in Christchurch! An opportunity for Dads to get together with their kids and other Dads and catch up. MJ is passionate about creating community for Dads in the postpartum stage, the way Mums are so good at doing. MJ and Britt are two golden humans, it is just evident that they are kind to their core, passionate about their mahi, and deeply committed to giving Arthur and Mimi the very best childhood they can. MORE COUPLES LIKE THIS PLS! You can find all the details of MJ's work and info about upcoming events he is running for Dads on his instagram page @dadbehaviour Keeping it short today, because, as I say in the ep, I am deep in the midst of grieving my beloved Grandfather. Thank you for all the kindness and love that has been shown to me since telling the internet about his passing. LOVE YOU! • Abby Bridgeman (@theearlydaysnewzealand) on Solo Parenting, PND, ADHD & Parenthood, Working in Healthcare, and Janky Placentas
Abby Bridgeman (@theearlydaysnewzealand), y'all. She has quickly become one of my favourite people, and I am really grateful to this podcast for introducing me to her. She wears so many hats: nurse, mum, neurodivergent, parenting educator, total badass, and we get into most of them on the pod! I could yap on for a long time about how much I appreciate and value her education and her friendship, but I think it's pretty evident in the episode. I am so grateful to her for her vulnerability and trusting me to share her story on this platform. She really goes there and that is what makes this podcast good. I can only share as much as the guest shares. And Abby shared. If you're a parent looking for some evidence-based, practical, actually helpful, easy to understand, calm down your anxieties, parenting education, Abby is ya gal. I talk about it in the episode, but a heads up that in a month's time there will a month break from posting podcast episodes as the first season is 20 episodes. When I return for season 2, I will be posting episodes fortnightly. Just looking ahead to going back to full time work, I'm having to shift things to make it alllll a little bit workable. Hopefully eventually I will be able to go down to part time employment and part time with the podcast and return to weekly posting, but that's still a while away! I hope you all understand that I'm doing this to avoid burnout and make sure that I can keep posting on a consistent schedule. While you're here, why not do all the things?! Follow, like, subscribe, rate, review, share. Or maybe do just ONE of the things? The stats show me that lots of people who listen to the pod aren't actually subscribed, which, wild! So go ahead and save yourself having to search for the pod, and just click subscribe. Follow WDYPLT on social media!: Instagram TikTok AND, if you wanna hear the secret sixth question I have asked Abby this week, you can subscribe to the substack (there is a free subscription, or a paid subscription! LESS THAN A CUP OF COFFEE!!!!! And monthly meltdown is due to come out in the next week, so a great time to get in there!): Substack If you have a story you reckon would be interesting to hear on the pod, flick me an email at [email protected] OK LOOOOVVVEEEE YYYOOOOOUUUUU!
