52. Mike Rydstrom
Mike Rydstrom, known in Flutter circles as MaterialMike, has established himself as a leading expert in Material design within the Flutter ecosystem. He is the author of the FlexColorScheme package, a popular open-source package for theming Flutter applications using its visual configurator, the Themes Playground.
Mike Rydstrom is an active member of the Flutter community, sharing knowledge through talks and online platforms, like X/Twitter and BlueSky. In the Flutter GitHub repo he is also known for his detailed issue reports, often about Material components and theming.
In this podcast we meet Mike, where he tells us about his Flutter journey, how his packages were born and what problems they solve. Todd Volkert (@VolkertTodd) has been on the Flutter team for 10 years and is currently the director of engineering for Flutter, working from Google’s office in Sunnyvale. He joined Google in 2010 after twelve years leading engineering teams at companies such as VMware and FOXSports. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, attending his kids’ sporting and music events, playing as an amateur carpenter, and tutoring students in STEM subjects.
