Pete and Trevor augmented themselves with cyberbrains so they could truly appreciate 1995’s ‘Ghost in the Shell’ directed by Mamoru Oshii. Listen for their discussion of their history with anime, in addition to hearing their immediate reactions after leaving the theatre. This is also week four of our ongoing project to watch every Aardman feature and short film. This week we are talking ‘Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’ directed by Nick Park. • Th Fly / The Thing / Chicken Run
Pete and Trevor saw two of the greatest horror sci-fi movies ever made. We did a double-header of David Cronenberg’s The Fly (1986) and John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). It’s Jeff Goldblum versus Kurt Russell, Brundlefly versus The Thing from Another World, in an epic showdown of body horror, special effects, and possibly the best use of makeup ever. Listen in for our immediate reaction to these two classics. This is also week three of our ongoing project to watch every Aardman feature and short film. This week we are talking ‘Chicken Run’, Aardman’s first feature, directed by Nick Park and Peter Lord. We encourage everyone to watch along with us and check in each episode for our dedicated Aardman segment. Go to https://boxd.it/BQYVu for the watchlist. • Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl / Aardman Shorts 1990-1995
Pete and Trevor sat at home with a pot of tea, some crackers, and of course CHEESE (and yes, it was Yorkshire Wensleydale), and watched Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. Nick Park is back, along with Merlin Crossingham, directing only the second W&G feature film. Listen to the podcast to hear our immediate reactions to the film (giving plenty of warning before getting into spoilers). This is also week two of our ongoing project to watch every Aardman feature and short film. As luck would have it, we watched the Aardman Shorts from 1990-1995, which included ‘A Close Shave’, and ‘The Wrong Trousers’, featuring that dastardly nefarious penguin Feathers McGraw. We encourage everyone to watch along with us and check in each episode for our dedicated Aardman segment. Go to https://boxd.it/BQYVu for the watchlist for January. Next week we will be discussing Aardman’s first feature length film ‘Chicken Run’. Also make sure to enter our contest to win a free subscription to Letterboxd Patron: https://boxd.it/AuDza Intro (0:00)Aardman Shorts 1990-1995 (3:17)Spoiler-free review of Vengeance Most Fowl (33:04)Spoiler-talk (55:48)

  • Nosferatu / Aardman Shorts 1977-1990
Pete and Trevor drove right into the open arms of death itself, and its name is Nosferatu (not Dracula). Robert Eggers has had an incredible start to his directing career, but Nosferatu was the movie he was born to make. Starring Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, with Bill Skarsgård as the gross old vampire himself, Nosferatu is a triumph of atmosphere, cinematography, and performance. Listen to the podcast to hear our immediate reactions to the film after leaving the theatre (giving plenty of warning before getting into spoilers). This month includes the start of our ongoing project to watch every Aardman feature and short film. We encourage everyone to watch along with us and check in each episode for our dedicated Aardman segment. Go to https://boxd.it/BQYVu for the watchlist for January. Next week is the new Wallace and Gromit movie ‘Vengeance Most Fowl’ along with the Aardman shorts from 1990-1995, including ‘The Wrong Trousers’. Also make sure to enter our contest to win a free subscription to Letterboxd Patron: https://boxd.it/AuDzaIntro (0:00)Preview for January and Project Aardman (1:18)Preview of Nosferatu and history with Robert Eggers (6:15)Aardman Shorts 1977-1990 (22:05)Spoiler-free review of Nosferatu (45:45)Pee Report (1:05:13)Nosferatu deep dive (1:07:55)

Acerca de First Look, Final Word

Finally, a movie podcast that takes place in a car! Pete and Trevor are movie fans with nothing better to do. Come along with us on our drive to and from the cinema. On the drive there, we’ll be discussing general background on the movie and talk about our expectations. On the drive back again, you will hear spoiler talk about our first impressions of the movie having just exited the theatre. Will we see a “stone-cold masterpiece”? Will we see a stinker to end all stinkers? Will we run into traffic and miss the trailers? We’ll answer all these questions and more!
