Episode 17- The Chernobyl Disaster
In Pripyat, 49,000 lived peacefully in a newly formed city, complete with schools, a railway, hospital, gyms and all the other amenities you would see in a city in 1986, until 26th April, where in just a couple of weeks it was left abandoned. A ghost town now remains, with a rusting Ferris wheel and windowless apartment blocks. But what happened to the population at Pripyat and why is there now a large metal dome on the horizon at Chernobyl?
