Bryan Kohberger's alibi before his guilty plea was that he was out driving alone, looking at the moon and the stars. No witness. No phone. Now he wants that plea thrown out and a chance to argue it in front of a jury. The prosecution had DNA on the knife sheath, over twenty cell pings near the victims' house, surveillance footage, the Ka-Bar knife bought with a gift card on Amazon, and a roommate who saw him inside the home. His car was meticulously cleaned. The plea took the death penalty off the table  —  vacating it puts it back on. Eric Faddis joins Tony to examine the evidence wall Kohberger would walk into and what happened to his alibi the first time it was tested. Is there any scenario where this man gets his plea thrown out without the death penalty returning?

Judge Steven Hippler was supposed to hear arguments about whether he should be removed from Bryan Kohberger's post-conviction case. He filed an order the night before vacating the hearing  —  along with every other court date on the books. The prosecution has asked Hippler to throw out Kohberger's petition without any hearing at all, calling his claims bare and unsupported. The defense cites Hippler's sentencing language  —  calling Kohberger's acts grotesque evil and saying he found nothing redeeming  —  as proof the judge cannot be impartial. They also want the case moved back to Latah County. Family attorney Jason Goldman says this is the beginning of a longer fight. Eric Faddis, defense attorney and former prosecutor, joins Tony to break down a judge wiping his own calendar while being asked to step aside, a prosecution pushing to kill the petition on paper, and families with no next court date.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s documented record starts with a 2001 biopsy that came back negative for muscular dystrophy. Dee Dee found a new doctor. It runs through a neurologist who caught the harm in 2007 and never reported it, and through prison where Gypsy gained fourteen pounds and came off every medication. After release: eight million followers, a ninety-day marriage, a baby born on the anniversary. It ends on October 1, 2026, with Ken Urker found dead on his 34th birthday. At Nick Godejohn’s trial the defense called Gypsy as its first witness, and she testified she planned the murder. The jury gave Nick life in two hours. Gypsy served eight and a half. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott follows that record across four segments and asks the question the case keeps raising: does the woman who came out of Dee Dee’s house know she’s running the same playbook?

Six days after she wrapped a boot lace around another inmate's neck, Christa Pike picked up a prison phone, called her mother, and explained the difference between that and what she'd done to Colleen Slemmer. This one, she said, she premeditated. The call was recorded, like every call from that prison, and it's the first thing you'll hear in chapter three of Satan's Helper: The Christa Pike Story, the Hidden Killers documentary on the Colleen Slemmer murder.
Tony works forward from the trial. The jury that sentenced Pike to death in March 1996 heard her confession through headphones and heard her say she wasn't going to be rotting in jail over Colleen. Her co-counsel would later describe a client who kept confessing in letters she was passing out. One of those letters, written the day she was sentenced, told Tadaryl Shipp to say he'd lied to police and go along with her version, and it bragged that she'd bashed Colleen's brains out so she'd die quickly. The Tennessee Supreme Court upheld the sentence in 1998 and wrote that particular cruelty was a phrase that only began to describe the killing.
Then the fire at the Tennessee Prison for Women on August 24, 2001, the recreation cage, and Patricia Jones. A corrections officer who grabbed Pike's hands testified Pike told her she was only helping. Pike told a prison investigator she'd brought the lace out on purpose and wouldn't lose any sleep if Jones died, and at her 2004 trial she admitted on cross that she kept choking Jones after Jones was unconscious. In 2012 the TBI broke up a plan to copy a prison key. On September 30, 2026, Tennessee tried to execute her and couldn't. Colleen's mother was in the witness room. Tony ends the series with her.

In September 2025, Gypsy Rose Blanchard called a friend in prison and the recording surfaced after Ken Urker died. She described finding a card he wrote to an ex, drinking until she couldn’t stand, carving a word into their headboard with a kitchen knife, and throwing their prison letters “in the air like money.” Ken texted that he’d photographed it and would file for sole custody of Aurora. People close to her told her, “You scared the f— out of him. You know what you were in prison for.” She told the story herself. Before prison, she’d built Facebook characters to get Nick Godejohn to kill Dee Dee. At his trial the defense called her first; the jury gave Nick life in two hours. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott, author of Nightbird, asks whether a woman who grew up inside a con can come out with one tool and not know it’s a weapon.
