One juror stopped eleven others from acquitting Lindsay Clancy by reason of insanity. Now that juror is the subject of a formal judicial inquiry, and his own court records are the reason.
Judge William Sullivan on September 21 granted defense attorney Kevin Reddington's motion to produce the holdout's sealed juror questionnaire and conduct a limited investigation. The defense alleges the juror may have given false answers during selection about his criminal history and existing court orders.
The holdout has been identified as Michael Desronvil, 48, of Bridgewater. He was arrested in 2021 on a domestic assault charge that was later dismissed. His teenage nephew obtained a restraining order against him after alleging Desronvil pushed him down and repeatedly punched him in the face. That restraining order was active during the entire Clancy trial. Massachusetts law requires prospective jurors to disclose this information on their questionnaires.
The motion also targets Desronvil's cellphone. Multiple jurors told interviewers that the holdout scrolled through his phone during deliberations rather than engaging in discussion. If the phone shows outside material was accessed, that constitutes an external influence courts can investigate.
Through an attorney, Desronvil says he had no doubts about Clancy's guilt. The foreperson and multiple jurors say the opposite. Defense counsel Martin Weinberg, who joined from the Karen Read case, is preparing a double-jeopardy motion arguing that a jury broken by a disqualified juror cannot produce a lawful mistrial. The September 29 hearing will determine how far this investigation goes.

Two cases. Three conversations.
Prosecutors in the Caleb Flynn murder trial say the former worship pastor sent more than 100,000 messages to his mistress, some allegedly describing plans to kill his wife Ashley. At the same time, they say, he was texting Ashley love messages. His defense attorney conceded the affair and told the jury: being a terrible husband doesn't make you a murderer.
Bryan Kohberger confessed to the Idaho student murders, was sentenced to four life terms, and is now claiming from prison that the confession was coerced. His family released a statement to ABC News backing his bid for a new trial.
Psychotherapist and author Shavaun Scott joins Tony to examine both cases through a clinical lens. What goes through the mind of a mistress who reads those messages and stays? Special Agent Joseph Wilhelm took the Caleb Flynn jury inside the digital evidence recovered from Flynn's iPhone, and the timeline prosecutors are building now has another layer. Wilhelm testified that Instagram, GroupMe, ChatGPT and other apps showed as deleted from the phone on February 15, 2026 - the day before Ashley Flynn was killed.
Wilhelm, a cyber-crime investigator specializing in digital forensics, said the first attempt to extract Caleb's phone data failed because of settings on the device. He used another forensic tool and completed a full extraction. He testified that the recovered artifacts included evidence of incognito browsing.
The extraction also reached beyond the phone. Wilhelm testified about Apple Watch data, including a final recorded heart rate at 2:10:11 a.m., step information and AirPods connectivity. The watch was identified in the data as @CalebApplesWatch. Investigators also recovered audio of a song Caleb wrote for Alleigha Botner, which was played for the jury.
Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty in the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn. Prosecutors allege he killed Ashley and staged their Tipp City home to resemble a burglary. The defense says an intruder killed Ashley and investigators rushed to blame Caleb. The digital evidence gives jurors another timeline to compare against both versions of what happened.

The State of Indiana's proof that Richard Allen was treated well in solitary is a short list: a free replacement tablet, a new cell window, and a couple of in-person visits with his wife. The state's lawyer read it to the Indiana Court of Appeals on September 21, 2026, in the Delphi murders appeal, and the warden's 2023 account explains the tablet. Allen destroyed the first one in the days after the phone call in which he told his wife he killed Abby and Libby, while refusing to eat or sleep.
That call was April 3, 2023. She hung up on him. The state counted 61 incriminating statements after that, to his mother, to guards, to the warden, and to the prison psychologist, and it had a record of every one because the suicide-watch cell logged everything he said every fifteen minutes.
Sworn statements from Westville guards confirm they used a Taser on Allen twice in May 2023, for refusing orders, they say. When his lawyers asked to move him because guards wore patches tied to Odinism, the state admitted the patches were real, said the officers were told to remove them, and called a transfer unwarranted.
Allen wants a new trial because his lawyers say those thirteen months produced the confessions and the trial court hid the evidence that undercut them. The state wants the conviction upheld because it says restrictive housing isn't coercion under Indiana law and the confessions that matter came when he was lucid.
The appeals judges asked the state whether Allen was treated as well as anyone else at Westville. The answer was yes. What a judge said next is the first thing you'll hear. No ruling has come, none is scheduled, and the loser can take it to the Indiana Supreme Court.

Alleigha Botner's cross-examination in the Caleb Flynn murder trial gave the defense a chance to turn the spotlight onto the prosecution's affair witness. Botner testified that she had searched the internet for information about unsolved murders and that, in her first FBI interview, she said she did not believe Caleb killed his wife, Ashley Flynn. In a later interview, after retaining counsel, she said she did believe Caleb killed Ashley.
The defense also walked Botner through messages showing her jealousy toward Ashley and her repeated demands that Caleb leave his wife. Botner acknowledged sending many messages saying she hated Ashley and wanted her gone. She also testified that she sometimes doubted Caleb's claims that he hated Ashley because she saw Ashley behaving lovingly toward him and saw the couple going on dates and to restaurants. Botner said Caleb may have been lying to her about how he felt about his wife.
Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to charges including aggravated murder in Ashley Flynn's death. Prosecutors allege he killed Ashley and staged the scene as a home invasion; the defense says investigators rushed to blame him. Botner also testified that she has never been charged in connection with Ashley's murder and that prosecutors made her no promises.
